About Us

Family owned and locally operated

Our story is a classic tale of geek love gone retail!

We're a family of passionate collectors and players of video games, with a healthy obsession for figurines and all things nerdy.

Countless jokes about our basement slowly morphing into a store finally became reality.

Seeing a void for a dedicated video game shop right here in Cochrane(where we proudly live), we decided to take the plunge.

With the incredible support of our family and friends, We Do Geek was born in the winter of 2024 and proudly opened its doors on August 6th, 2024.

🃏 TCG & GAMING INSIDER: The Ultimate 2026 Battle Guide! 🃏

Welcome to your one-stop shop for all things Trading Card Games and beyond! Whether you’re a seasoned pro looking for the next meta-breaking card or a newcomer ready to open your first digital pack, we’ve got the latest news, tips, and upcoming release dates just for you.

The Best Pokémon Cards 2025

One of the greatest joys of the trading card game is building a collection of pocket monsters. Many players come to the game just to chase tantalizing shinnies, search for the most expensive rare Pokémon cards, and rip open packs from the newest Pokémon set with giddy excitement.

Check out the full breakdown of the most powerful cards at Wargamer.

💎 The Treasure Hunter's Guide: Most Expensive Cards 2025

The Pokémon market is more electric than ever! While the "Holy Grails" of the 90s still command fortunes, 2025 has introduced new modern titans that are already breaking the $1,000 barrier. Whether you're digging through your attic or ripping new packs, here is what the top of the market looks like right now.

🏛️ The All-Time "Holy Grails" (top 4)

These are the museum-tier pieces. If you see one of these, you aren't just looking at a card.

#1Pikachu Illustrator $5,275,000+(PSA10) Only 39 were ever made for a 1998 contest

.#21st Edition Shadowless Charizard$450,000+(PSA10) The "King of Pokémon." Only 125 exist in perfect Gem Mint 10.

#3 Trophy Pikachu (Gold)$300,000+ Awarded to winners of the very first Japanese tournament.

#4Lugia 1st Edition (Neo Genesis)$144,000+The legendary bird of the Johto region in its rarest form.

🔥 The Modern "Chase" Cards (2024–2025)

You can still find these in stores—if you're lucky! These are the "pulls of a lifetime" from recent sets like Prismatic Evolutions and Surging Sparks.

1. Umbreon ex (Special Illustration Rare) — $1,090+

From the Prismatic Evolutions set.

Often called "Sunbreon," this card has become the modern gold standard. Even as other cards fluctuate, the "Eeveelution" hype keeps this card sitting firmly above $1,000.

2. Mega Gengar ex (Special Illustration Rare) — $800+

A standout from the Ascended Heroes collection. Gengar's popularity combined with breathtaking street-fight style artwork has made this the most hunted Mega Evolution card of the year.

3. Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex — $530+

Found in the Destined Rivals set. This card hits a massive nostalgia nerve for fans of the original movie and the villainous Team Rocket.

4. Tera Pikachu ex (Special Illustration Rare) — $340+

The crown jewel of the Surging Sparks set. It features the "Stellar" Tera type art that collectors are currently obsessed with.

📈 3 Tips for Future Investors

If you're looking to buy cards as an investment, keep these 2025 market trends in mind:

The "Wait 6 Months" Rule:

Data shows that singles from brand-new sets usually drop in price 3–6 months after release before stabilizing. Avoid the "FOMO" (Fear Of Missing Out) on launch day!

Grading is Everything:

A "Raw" (unprotected) card might be worth $100, but if it gets a

PSA 10

grade, it can jump to $500 or more. Always check your corners and edges!

The 30th Anniversary Effect:

With 2026 being the 30th anniversary, expect classic "Vintage" cards (Base Set, Jungle, Fossil) to see a price spike as nostalgia hits an all-time high.
